What Are Mopar Sales Codes?

Mopar Sales Codes are factory-assigned identifiers used by Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram to describe vehicle equipment and production configurations. Typically consisting of three alphanumeric characters (such as ERB for a 3.6L V6 engine), these codes identify engines, transmissions, paint colors, interior trims, axle ratios, optional packages, and other factory-installed features.

Each vehicle has its own combination of sales codes, which helps identify how it was originally equipped. The codes are recorded in the vehicle's factory build data and can be used to verify original specifications and equipment.

Where Can I Find Mopar Sales Codes?

Unlike GM's RPO system, Mopar does not use a single standardized vehicle label containing every factory option code. The most complete equipment information is generally available through the vehicle's factory build sheet or equipment listing, which can be retrieved using its 17-character VIN.

You may also find equipment information in:

  • Original factory build sheets and equipment listings
  • Dealer vehicle configuration and service records
  • Original window stickers showing equipment packages and options
  • Equipment identification labels on certain older models

The standard VIN is located at the base of the windshield on the driver's side or on the driver-side door jamb label.

Where Are Sales Codes Located on Older Dodge, Ram, and Jeep Vehicles?

Older Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles may have physical equipment labels or production documents containing factory option codes. Their locations vary considerably by model and production year.

Common places to check include:

  • Dodge Ram trucks: Glove box equipment identification label on certain model years
  • Jeep vehicles: Original build sheet or factory equipment records
  • Dodge vehicles: Equipment labels or production documentation, depending on the model
  • Classic Chrysler and Dodge: Fender tags and factory broadcast sheets
  • Older Mopar vehicles: Build sheets sometimes found beneath seats, under carpeting, or behind interior panels

Not every vehicle has a physical label containing its complete sales code list. For supported vehicles, a VIN-based equipment lookup is generally the easiest way to identify the original factory configuration.

Where can I find my VIN?

If you are shopping for a new or used vehicle, the number is usually included in the vehicle listing, dealership page, auction listing, build sheet, equipment listing, or window sticker.

You can also find the number in several common locations on the driver’s side of the vehicle:

  • At the base of the windshield
  • On the driver-side door jamb or certification label
  • Inside the glove box or center console on some models
  • In the engine compartment
  • On the vehicle registration, title, or insurance documents

Always enter the complete 17-character number and check each character carefully before decoding. Standard VINs do not contain the letters I, O, or Q.
